Closure Notice – Central Area of Burghley Park
Monday 30th July - Friday 14th September
Burghley Park is to be partially closed to all pedestrians and unauthorised vehicles in the weeks leading up to September’s Burghley Horse Trials, to ensure public safety during the site build and breakdown periods for this world renowned event.
Access to Burghley House and Gardens remains unaffected via the main entrance on Barnack Road.
Access to the Lower Park remains open and unaffected up to the cattle grid via Station Gates entrance on Barnack Road.
Event Director, Elizabeth Inman, whilst reminding local residents and visitors of this annual requirement prior to the Event said: “once again we wish to thank the local community for their understanding and support. As the Event has grown and flourished, infrastructure demands have increased resulting in rising H&S requirements that close the central area of the Park to pedestrians and unauthorised vehicles from Monday 30 July to Thursday 30 August when the Event starts officially.”
The measures, first introduced in 2015, were taken in response to increasing regulation within the UK’s construction industry. The restricted area will be clearly signposted at key points in the Park to cover the period 30 July – 29 August and will then be re-applied from Monday 3 September to Friday 14 September (inclusive) to cover the breakdown of the Event.
