The First Step
Burghley is dedicated to helping you create the wedding of your dreams and we view each wedding as a completely unique and individual event. To help you with the planning process we have put together 4 packages that we feel give you the best of Burghley on your wedding day.
Once you have had chance to look through the options available please call or email to book a viewing appointment. During this initial meeting our wedding coordinator will talk through your requirements and show you the rooms available. Appointments are available Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm and occasional weekends.
Confirming your booking
Once we have confirmed that your chosen date is available we will draw up a draft contract and send this to you along with a copy of our booking terms and conditions.
If you are planning to hold your wedding ceremony at Burghley we cannot finalise your booking until you have confirmation from Peterborough Registry Office that they are able to marry you on your chosen date.
Once you are happy with your contract a final copy will be sent to you along with an invoice for your booking deposit of £1,000+vat. Your booking will be confirmed when we receive your signed contract and the booking deposit.
Burghley recommend all couples to arrange adequate wedding insurance. This is easily achieved using one of the many generic wedding insurance packages available which will also cover you for many other possible unforeseen circumstances. We will require a copy of your insurance on confirming your booking.
We have a selection of recommended suppliers who we work with frequently and in whose quality and level of service we have every confidence. If you would prefer to source your own suppliers you will need to ensure that they hold a minimum of £5 million public liability insurance.
Please note that our recommended florist – Jo Kirby of Designer Flowers of Rutland – is the only florist that we allow to work on site. If you wish to use an alternative florist they are welcome to deliver arrangements on the day of the event or the evening before depending on availability.
Frequently asked questions
Who do we contact to book our wedding ceremony at Burghley?
All bookings for civil ceremonies need to be made through Peterborough Registry Office 01733 864646. Bookings can only be confirmed with Peterborough Registry Office up to 1 year in advance of the wedding date. If you wish to book Burghley further in advance we are happy to hold your chosen date provisionally until you are able to confirm with the Registry Office.
Please note that the booking of the registrar must be done by the client and is not provided by Burghley.
Can we have a menu tasting?
Should you wish to sample dishes this is done in our Orangery Restaurant and usually takes place between 4pm – 6pm. A menu tasting must be booked at least 1 week in advance. A complimentary starter, main course & dessert are offered to confirmed clients with extra dishes being charged at the standard menu rate. All drinks are charged on a consumption basis.
Can we supply our own wine and drinks for our wedding?
Premium quality House wines are offered as part of your package but should you wish to serve alternative wines we are happy to discuss your requirements and inform you of any supplements that be applicable. We do not allow clients to supply their own wine or drinks.
Can we offer guests a choice for their meal?
For each course we are happy to offer a meat or fish option and a vegetarian option. Individual dietary requirements can be fulfilled but please provide as much information and notice as possible.
Are we allowed to have candles?
We do allow candles in the House as long as they are in or on something that will catch any wax and protect surfaces from heat and are located in a safe position.
Do you have a room for the bride to use to get ready?
Unfortunately as we are a residential property we do not have the facilities to offer a specific rest room for the bride.
Can we have fireworks during our reception?
Fireworks are allowed within the park but they must be fired by our recommended firework company, Komodo Fireworks. For the health and well being of the fallow deer herd in the park, fireworks may not be possible at all time of years, please check before booking any display. Please note that the use of sky lanterns or similar are strictly forbidden.
Who will be present from Burghley on our wedding day.
Your wedding coordinator will be present along with the restaurant manager and waiting staff. The number of waiting staff will be dependant on your wedding day requirements.
