The Dairy – The Inspiration
On the commencement of this restoration project, we considered at great length who our intended guests would be as we wanted to ensure they would enjoy the ultimate stay when visiting Burghley. With activities in close proximity to The Dairy including concerts at the House, the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, or sailing at Rutland Water, The Dairy is the perfect destination to experience the local area and all it has to offer.
In order to achieve the ultimate levels of luxury and comfort, we engaged the services of top international interior designer, Thomas Hamel.
Thomas and his design team have researched the history of Burghley House to create accommodation which closely reflects the rich heritage of The Estate. The inspiration behind the design incorporates not only elements from the original building but also details influenced from the main house. Each of the six bedrooms has a loose theme closely linked to prominent features of the estate such as the striking colour scheme of a state bedroom in the main house. Using a colour palette of raspberry and cornflour blue the team have applied a fresh modern twist on an ornate interior. In a neighbouring bedroom, a stall from the original building has been redesigned as a striking headboard to create a unique aesthetic. Free-standing roll top baths, rain-fall showers and luxurious tapware are features of every ensuite in The Dairy and provide a level of opulence rarely experienced. Incorporating troughs as powder room vanities, cattle feeding stations as benches and reusing original timber to clad the kitchen joinery, every element has been carefully considered to ensure the history of The Dairy lives on.
We look forward to welcoming you in 2017 to enjoy an exclusive and memorable experience of life at Burghley.
