School visits at Burghley House

Prices vary by package and are charged per pupil, with a minimum charge of £180. The current price is shown on each package page, with free adult places included in line with our required supervision ratios.

We recommend enquiring as early as possible, particularly if you have a specific date in mind. Our online enquiry calendar shows available dates up to one year in advance. If you are planning further ahead, email our Education Team and we’ll be happy to discuss your preferred date.

Yes. If you do not see a package that suits your group, please get in touch. Our Education Team may be able to adapt an existing session or work with you to shape a visit around your pupils, curriculum and timetable. The best way to do this is select the Bespoke Package option then complete the quick enquiry form providing details of what you have in mind.

Yes. Once a booking is confirmed, free pre-visits are available for up to four teachers, giving you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the site and complete your risk assessment. Pre-visits must be booked at least two working days in advance with the Education Team.

Yes. Risk assessments are available for our learning spaces and activities, and we can share the relevant documents with you on request to help with your planning.

These are intended to support your school’s own risk assessment rather than replace it, so visiting schools remain responsible for completing their own assessment and supervising pupils throughout the visit.

Of course! Pupils are very welcome to dress in costume to match their learning topic, which can add to the sense of immersive learning. There is no requirement to do so, however, and school uniform or everyday clothes are equally suitable.  Please note that costumes are not provided by Burghley.

A visit to Hide & Secrets Adventure Play is included as an option in selected packages for KS1 and KS2. Please check the package pages or add a request when completing your enquiry form. Availability may depend on your group size and timetable.

Our required adult-to-pupil ratios are:
 

• KS1: 1 adult to 5 pupils
• KS2 and KS3: 1 adult to 10 pupils
• KS4: 1 adult to 14 pupils

Adults providing dedicated support for SEND pupils are additional to these ratios.

Visiting school staff and accompanying adults remain responsible for pupil supervision throughout the visit, including during breaks, lunch and teacher-led activities.

We want every pupil to feel welcome and able to take part. Many sessions can be adapted, and our Education Team will work with you wherever possible to support the needs of your group. Let us know about any requirements when you enquire so we can discuss the most suitable package, spaces and resources.

We have dedicated coach and minibus parking and this is included with your booking, but it must be reserved when you book your visit.

Mixed-age groups are very welcome. Choose the package that most closely matches your learning objectives, then tell us the age groups attending in your enquiry form. Our educators will adapt the sessions, where possible, to suit the different ages and needs within your group.
