Head of Marketing, Communications and Digital Media

Burghley is recruiting an experienced, creative, innovative and inspirational Head of Marketing, Communications and Digital Media, on a permanent or minimum 2 year fixed term contract.

A member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO, you will have significant strategic input and impact across the Estate, with responsibility for all aspects of digital media, marketing and communications for Burghley House & Gardens visitor attractions, Burghley Park, Burghley Park Golf Club, a significant property portfolio, including residential, agricultural and commercial properties and a number of ambitious and extensive capital development and visitor growth projects in and around Stamford in the coming years and decades.

You will be responsible for further building and protecting the brand and reputation of one of the largest and grandest surviving houses of the sixteenth century, alongside driving healthy visitor numbers and supporting all of the Estate’s varied new and existing commercial endeavours.

You will have a naturally collaborative approach coupled with demonstrable commercial acumen and will be a proud ambassador for Burghley engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders both inside and outside the Estate.

Responsibilities include:-

  • Creating and executing a joined up digital marketing, brand and communications strategy for the Estate, including new product launches (visitor attractions, leisure and property)
  • Reviewing our Vision and Values and how they inform and underpin everything we do
  • Driving customer engagement through digital marketing
  • Setting and managing an Estate-wide marketing budget (currently managed by each department)
  • Managing and providing guidance to the Marketing Assistant
  • Analysing market data and understanding our market segmentation and customer types
  • Building brand awareness and positioning
  • Reviewing and refining our social media presence to match the aspirations and vision of the Estate, including reviewing and managing Estate image database
  • Reviewing and managing look & feel and content of website and all marketing campaigns and collateral in all formats
  • PR including community and stakeholder engagement and crisis /issues management and comms
  • Trademarking and brand protection
  • Managing and reviewing existing external marketing and media relationships and arrangements

Deputy Head Greenkeeper

Burghley Park Golf Club, founded in 1890, maintains a sustainable native grassland links course with a high proportion of bent and fescue grasses in the greens and fairways. In recent years we have embarked on an ambitious forward thinking course development and improvement programme, ensuring the course is environmentally managed and will be well placed to meet any future industry requirements and regulations with regards to sustainability.

We are recruiting for an ambitious and motivated Deputy Head Greenkeeper to be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance and management, including deputising for the Head Greenkeeper in his absence, and with the desire and determination to continue to drive the course improvement project forward.

The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, be happy working as part of a team and on their own and be willing and able to work flexible hours.

Skills and experience required

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Greenkeeper, including experience working with fine grasses
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of golf course renovation/development, including bunkers, drainage and irrigation
  • Moisture management experience
  • Traditional greenkeeping experience
  • PA 1, 2 and 6 certificates
  • CS certificates preferred but not essential
  • Grinding experience preferred but not essential
  • Irrigation system maintenance preferred but not essential
  • Strong IT skills
  • Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation
  • Ability to work with Head Greenkeeper, setting priorities and managing and motivating the team

2 Part Time Cleaners

We are recruiting for 2 experienced part time Cleaners, to clean the public areas of the Gardens for the 2021 season (exact dates tbc in line with government guidance).

Working hours will be 9am-4.30pm, 4 days/week, on a fixed term contract (March-October 2021 tbc).

You will be responsible for thoroughly and methodically cleaning all public areas and touchpoints in and around the Sculpture Garden and Garden of Surprises, including the toilets and café area, to maintain our strict covid secure protocols.

You may also cover the Brewhouse, Chestnut Courtyard and the Orangery.

We are looking for someone with previous cleaning experience, who is reliable, a good team worker and who takes pride in their work.
