Gardens Administrator - Part Time
The Burghley Estate is a diverse business based in Stamford, Lincolnshire. At the heart of the Estate is Burghley House, set within 1,500 acres of historic parkland. Business interests include Burghley House, Gardens and Adventure Play visitor attractions, a busy programme of public and private events including the world renowned 5* Defender Burghley Horse Trials, Burghley Park Golf Club and a significant property portfolio.
We are seeking an Administrator to join our busy Gardens team at Burghley House on a part time basis (16 hours across 4 mornings per week).
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our garden’s operation, providing essential administrative support to the Head Gardener and wider team. You’ll help keep systems running smoothly, support our valued Volunteers, and contribute to the safe and efficient day-to-day management of the gardens.
Key responsibilities include:
- Administration support for the Head Gardener
- Administration to support departmental Health & Safety systems, including COSHH records, risk assessments, vehicle checks, contractor approval process
- Administration of the Volunteer team including onboarding, database, time tracking
- Maintaining plant, tree, COSHH, and other databases
- Sourcing of materials and plants as required by Head Gardener and team
- Maintaining and implementing the Gardens team calendar
- Carrying out research to support projects and planning
- Ad hoc administration required for the wider Gardens team
- Organisation and documentation of team quarterly Health & Safety meetings, annual Health & Safety review, annual Volunteer briefing day and other events as needed
- Monitoring and maintenance of all Gardens first aid kits

- Have an adaptable, flexible working approach
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Be well organised and able to manage and prioritise their own workload
- Have strong attention to detail
- Be self-motivated and able to work as part of a team or individually
