Hide & Secrets Adventure Play KS1

Packed with opportunities for movement, fun and teamwork, Hide & Secrets Adventure Play invites pupils to race down giant slides, tackle climbing walls, scramble across rope bridges and explore a series of action-packed play zones. Woodland play, bug houses, butterfly banks, tunnels and dens add to the sense of discovery and adventure.

The play area is themed around William Cecil’s role as Queen Elizabeth I’s trusted adviser and Chief Spymaster, bringing a playful touch of Tudor history to the experience. Through active, imaginative and collaborative play, pupils can communicate, solve problems, make decisions and build confidence. Teachers can link the space to wider learning or simply give children time to create their own adventures.

What pupils do

Activities are chosen and planned by the teacher but could include:

• Explore the Adventure Play area through active play.
• Climb, balance and navigate a variety of play equipment.
• Develop confidence through appropriate risk-taking and challenge.
• Engage in imaginative and role-play activities.
• Solve problems and make decisions during play.
• Cooperate, communicate and negotiate with others.
• Build physical skills including coordination, balance and spatial awareness.
• Explore the natural outdoor environment through play.

What to expect

• A self-guided play experience.
• Outdoor activity in a natural woodland setting.
• School staff supervise pupils throughout the session.

Accessibility

• The self-guided format allows teachers to adapt activities to meet the needs of their pupils.
• A dedicated sensory area provides opportunities for sensory exploration and quieter play.
• School staff accompany pupils throughout the visit and provide any additional support required.
• The Adventure Play has been designed with accessibility in mind, with wide pathways, a sensory wall, accessible lower-level platforms and accessible lookout points.
