Meet King Henry VIII

Session details
Step into the Tudor court and come face to face with Henry VIII in this lively, teacher-in-role session. Led by a costumed facilitator, pupils explore the power, personality and priorities of one of England’s most famous monarchs.
Through questioning, discussion and drama-based interaction, pupils are encouraged to consider Henry’s decisions, his marriages and what it meant to rule in Tudor England.
What to expect
- This 45-minute session takes place in a classroom-style space Led by a costumed facilitator in role as Henry VIII
- Maximum group size of 30 pupils to support engagement and interaction
- Pupils will take part in discussion, questioning and drama-based activities
- The session is responsive and may adapt to pupils’ prior knowledge
- Teachers will be required to actively support the facilitator and engage with the session.

- Explore the role and influence of Henry VIII
- Consider how and why historical decisions were made
- Ask and answer questions to deepen their understanding of the past
