South Gardens Spring Opening
See Burghley's South Gardens in all their spring glory
Enjoy the magnificent seasonal displays in Burghley's South Gardens as the spring blooms give an injection of colour into the beautiful 28 acre garden.
Only open for a handful of weeks each year, don't miss this opportunity to visit the private South Gardens, created by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 18th century and witness truly wonderful views of the south front of Burghley House, Lion Bridge and the Parkland beyond. Discover the beautiful Summer House overlooking the lake, stroll among magnificent trees and enjoy colourful floral displays and pristine lawns. Admire intriguing topiary, elegant yew hedges and ornate fountains added in the 19th century which add an injection of formality into the otherwise naturalistic landscape.
Each spring the South Gardens is open to raise funds for the Evergreen Care Trust, a local charity dedicated to promoting healthy ageing and attitudes towards older people. The Evergreen Care Trust works closely with local charitable groups, churches and schools, and together with other health care providers offers a full range of home care services for the benefit of the elderly and vulnerable in Stamford and surrounding areas.
*Please note there will be no access to the South Gardens from 31 March to 4 April and on 18 April.
