Japanese Tea Ceremony Workshop
Enjoy this ancient ritual used to enhance the mind, to produce calm, peace and wellbeing as well as boosting energy
In the Japanese Tea Ceremony host and tea ceremony master Keiko Uchida will take you through the history of green tea and the philosophy and cultural background behind the Japanese Tea Ceremony, which can involve gardening, ceramics, textiles, architecture, calligraphy and food, as well as tea. Gain insights into the health and beauty benefits of matcha tea and learn the difference between black tea, green tea and matcha tea.
Next, enjoy a demonstration where Keiko will prepare and serve you a cup of matcha tea with a Japanese sweet treat. She will teach you about the traditional way of serving and drinking a cup of matcha tea in public, with traditional gestures and manners. You will then have the opportunity to take on the role of host and guest using traditional equipment.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discover more on the art of tea as a way to realise our wellbeing and to reduce stress levels.
An exclusive and tranquil setting
This workshop takes place in The Dairy, a beautiful 19th century building nestled in the heart of the Burghley Estate with an idyllic rural setting and stunning views of Burghley House and its surrounding Parkland.
