In this interactive educator-in-role session, pupils become trainee courtiers as they enjoy an audience with Queen Elizabeth herself. They'll hear about her remarkable life, her reign and discover her close friendship with William Cecil, the first Lord Burghley and her Chief Minister. There'll also be plenty of opportunities to ask the Queen their own questions and find out more about life in Tudor England.
What pupils do
- Meet Queen Elizabeth I and find out about her childhood, her reign, the Spanish Armada, William Cecil and why she never married.
- Respond to historical scenarios and questions.
- Ask the Queen questions to learn more about her life and times.
What to expect
- Takes place in a classroom-style learning space.
- Delivered in groups of up to 30 pupils.
- The session lasts approximately 45 minutes.
- Led by a costumed educator portraying Queen Elizabeth I.
- A mainly seated, discussion-based session with opportunities for pupils to ask questions throughout.
- Costume and music help create an immersive atmosphere.
- The session can be adapted to suit pupils' knowledge, confidence and engagement.
- The session is delivered at an age-appropriate level for Key Stage 1 pupils.
