Burghley shortlisted in Tourism Excellence Awards
Burghley House has been shortlisted in the Greater Lincolnshire & Rutland Tourism Excellence Awards 2024-25 in the Large Visitor Attraction category.
The Greater Lincolnshire & Rutland Tourism Awards, accredited by VisitEngland, celebrate local businesses that excel in hospitality, customer service, and tourism innovation. The shortlist announcement comes after a rigorous judging process led by a panel of industry experts, placing Burghley House alongside some of the best businesses in the region.
In 2023, Burghley House welcomed over 150,000 visitors, with data from the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) revealing an impressive 86% year-on-year increase, the highest percentage growth in visitor numbers across England. While many come from the surrounding region, the estate also draws visitors from across the UK and around the globe. In the past two years, several projects have been completed to enhance the visitor experience and attract new audiences, including the creation of a new play area and the development of a visitor car park.
Shortlisted businesses proceed to the Mystery Shopping round of judging, where finalists are assessed in line with the VisitEngland criteria, looking for the highest standards of excellence across all aspects of the visitor experience. Regional winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held in February 2025 with the winners advancing to represent the region at the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, competing against top businesses from across the UK.
We are delighted to be shortlisted for the Tourism Excellence Awards and honoured to be recognised amongst so many inspiring local businesses. Our visitors are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to delivering a memorable experience in every aspect of our business. We are incredibly proud of our team and all they do to make Burghley a wonderful place to visit.
Created to shine a light on businesses across the county, The Tourism Excellence Awards celebrate every aspect of the visitor economy - I'm thrilled to see so many fantastic businesses from across Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland shortlisted in this year's celebration of tourism.
Seeing applications come in from all areas of our LVEP region, and in numbers which have exceeded our previous years, I know the judging panel had their work cut out for them when it came to marking each submission. A heartfelt congratulations to everyone who made it onto the shortlist.
