It is with enormous regret that as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak, we have taken the difficult decision not to reopen the House to visitors this year. This is because of the relatively small size of some rooms, narrow routes and physical restrictions on two-way access, meaning that appropriate measures to observe social distancing are not possible.

This conclusion was not reached without careful discussion and consideration of all the challenges that we would face in complying with current guidelines. At the end of the day, a visit to Burghley is meant to be enjoyable and we do not feel that we can offer our visitors a high-quality experience.

The Gardens are currently closed along with Government guidance concerning ticketed outdoor venues. This will be kept under constant review with the prospect of opening the gardens later in the summer.

The parkland will remain open daily from 7am to 6pm, free of charge. All other facilities including the Orangery Restaurant, Garden Café, Gift Shop, Garden Shop and toilets remain closed.

We hope our visitors to Burghley will be able to enjoy the great pleasures which the Park has to offer at this time of year. Together, we want to support our local community as much as we possibly can and hope that you will find some comfort here with your families. We do however ask all visitors to observe Government guidelines regarding social distancing and keep dogs on leads at all times.

The Burghley Park Golf Course has re-opened for members only to use under the new Government guidelines for exercise and sport. Only the Course will be open, with the Club House and all other facilities remaining shut

Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time.

Before planning your visit, please read our updated guidance

  • Social Distancing: Please keep at least 2 metres away from all other users of the Park at all times.
  • Car Parking: Keep to a safe distance when parking your car in the car parks. The Golf Club car park is reserved for golfers only. All other visitors please use the main car park in Burghley Park.
  • Footpaths: Keep to one side so others can pass at a safe distance, use the verge if needed, but please do not stray onto farmland. Please move quickly along the section next to the Golf Course to aid social distancing or consider using the parkland for your exercise which remains open daily.
  • Dog Walking: Please continue to keep your dog on a lead at all times to ensure the safety of our livestock both in the Park and on our footpaths.
  • Cyclists: Please maintain a two metre distance whilst cycling through the park and keep to a reduced speed.
  • Playing Golf (Members Only): Please make sure you have pre-booked your tee time online before arriving at the golf course. You can book your tee time as a one or a two-ball. Two-balls are permitted to play whether players are from the same or a different household.
  • Golf Members only: The Golf Course is open for Members only to aid social distancing. If you wish to purchase or renew membership please visit https://www.burghleyparkgolfclub.co.uk/membership_fees

The safety of our visitors and staff remain our priority as we constantly monitor and review government guidelines. Thank you for your understanding.

Tickets

If you have purchased an Annual Pass which you have not used please email your details to burghley@burghley.co.uk to discuss our refund options. We are unable to renew or refund Annual Passes that have already been used as these are essentially a Day Admission Ticket which allows you to return from the date of purchase.

Events

We are constantly reviewing our events with the individual organisers and will update our website as soon as we have information. We will continue to monitor this developing situation, and share updates as soon as they are available.
